Here are a few pics of my lovely holiday to Crete with Phil and the girls. Mike and Ian went along with us but stayed at a different hotel since the one we were at was full up when they booked. It was so beautiful there and quite the experience for me. Malia is the like the "spring break" place for Europeans! There were so many young people partying! We were well away from the party scene but close enough to walk to it...during the day when the young people were sleeping it off...LOL.
This was the view from our hotel balcony. I got to see this every morning while I drank my coffee. Brilliant way to start the day!
Phil, enjoying the view with me.
The amazing pool at our hotel. So many evenings were spent sitting around there, swimming, having a few drinks, playing pool. Mike and Ian were there to hang out with us quite a bit.
One of the restaurants we went to. Was a lovely evening. Such a beautiful place and the staff was very friendly. We were served a complimentary bottle of "raki" and a fruit plate after dinner. We all tried the raki. It reminded me a bit of saki in that it was very strong and not a lot of flavor. Emily tried it and it was so funny to see the look on her face. European countries don't seem to have much problem with younger people drinking. You never have any problems getting drinks...even if the girls want something. It's no big deal. I remember they had the same kind of attitude about it in Rome.
The wonderful aquarium at Hersonissis, Crete. There were a couple of aquariums there, but we went to the smaller one. I'm really glad we did. It was amazing! We actually got to touch and hold the snakes and lizards. It was the best place we went to there! Phil did a really good job of researching things and picking out great attractions for us to see. He's the bomb! If you ever go to Crete, this place is a must see!
